Bexley & Sidcup Lions Club Hosts Charity Bollywood Night in Support of LIBRA

On Saturday 22nd March 2025, the Bexley & Sidcup Lions Club hosted a spectacular Bollywood Night in Welling, bringing together members of the community for an evening of entertainment, culture, and fundraising.The event aimed to support LIBRA (Lions International Blood Research Appeal), based at Kings College Hospital London, they are  dedicated to funding vital research and treatment for blood disorders, including leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

As are ALL event organised by Vandhna Panthey, the evening was a vibrant celebration of Bollywood music, dance, and cuisine, with guests enjoying a mix of traditional and contemporary performances. Attendees were treated to mesmerising dance routines, lively music, and a delicious selection of authentic Indian food. The atmosphere was electric, with guests embracing the spirit of Bollywood by dressing in colourful attire and participating in the festivities.

Among the distinguished guests was Cllr Rags Sandhu, who attended to show support for both the Lions Club and LIBRA. In his address, Cllr Sandhu praised the dedication of the Lions Club and highlighted the importance of supporting charities that fund critical medical rese

arch and patient care. As District Officer for Lions International, District 105SE, he spoke in great details about the good work of Lions Clubs in supporting the community in projects such as the Message in a Bottle (MIAB).

LIBRA plays a crucial role in advancing treatments for blood cancers and disorders, working closely with King’s College Hospital in London. The charity helps to provide cutting-edge medical equipment, support research projects, and improve treatment facilities for patients in need. Events like the Bollywood Night are essential in raising much-needed funds to continue this lifesaving work.

The Bexley & Sidcup Lions Club’s commitment to charitable causes was evident throughout the evening, with generous donations pouring in from attendees. The event was a resounding success, showcasing the power of community spirit and cultural celebration in making a meaningful difference. Lion President, Kulwant Main thanks Cllr.
