Citizenship Ceremonies in Bexley

Citizenship Ceremonies in Bexley

As Deputy May of the Borough of Bexley, Rags Sandhu was pleased to have had the opportunity of presenting the certificates of Naturalisation to those residents who have now become citizens of Great Britain.

Addressing the group at Danson House

This entire service is run by Kent County Councils registrations team, who organise and run the entire event, allowing the new residents to be addresses by the Mayoral team or Deputy Lieutenant of Bexley. At each event, the new applicants and their families are welcomed into Danson House before listening to the official address given by the Mayoral Team. In 2022/23, this address was made very, very personal by the Mayor, Cllr. Nick O’Hare and also by Cllr. Rags Sandhu, both providing a very brief story on how they can understand the entire process better than most in their positions. Cllr. O’Hare is originally from Greece, whilst Cllr. Sandhu is a British born Indian, who’s parents arrived in the UK in 1965 at a time when the movement of people had just started around the world.

What sets the Citizenship Ceremonies in Bexley apart from others, can often be the beautiful setting of the very historic Danson House and grounds, the professionalism of the team or the personal stories told by the various dignitaries each welcoming the citizens into the United Kingdom on behalf of King Charles III. Lasting approximately 1 hour, the professional photographer, prints out the photos allowing the citizens to buy them before they leave and begin their celebrations.
