Conservative Party Conference 2024

Conservative Party Conference 2024: My Thoughts

Held in Birmingham’s ICC, the Conservative Party Conference marked a pivotal moment for the party as it seeks to redefine its future following recent electoral challenges. This year’s event centred on the leadership contest, with four key candidates vying for the top position. Major figures like Kemi Badenoch MP, James Cleverly, Tom Tugenhat MP and Robert Jenrick MP  dominated discussions, each presenting their vision for the party’s revival. Each of the four had their own style and message for Conservative supporters, this now rests in the hands of Conservative MP’s before they reduce the selection down to the final two for members to vote on.

Leadership Contest and Future Direction

Each of the four contenders for the leadership position had their own stands at conference. Equipped with lots of branded giveaways, including branded hot/cold drinks flasks, bags, t-shirts, hats and more, there was a huge drive to see who can give away the most.

In addition to them each speaking to groups of fellow Conservatives, the grand finale was on the final day of conference where each of them pitched their fight to a room full of members.

In addition to lots of Conservative support exhibition stands were Cancer Research UK, Gibraltar, Made In UK, Movember,  and lots more, collectively all of these made the event an opportunity where you could easily have plenty to do.

During my time at the conference I had an opportunity to speak with our former Conservative Candidate for Mayor of London, Susan Hall AM, Robert Jenerick, James & Susie Cleverley and various other shadow cabinet members.

I was particularly  pleased to help man the Conservative Friends of India Stand which was in the main exhibition area, a popular stand which was visited by most of the senior Conservative Party members throughout the event. I along with Cllr. Reena Ranger OBE and Nayaz Qazi and others, spoke to a great deal of activists who were keen to learn more about what the functioning of CF India is.

In addition to myself, other representatives from Bexley included Sir David Evennett, Tom Turrell AM and others.

In My Words

“The Conservative Party Conference is a worthwhile event for Conservatives to attend. Although the event this year ran from Sunday to Wednesday, it’s up to you how many days you feel it necessary to attend however, I would strongly recommend attending each year.”

Most evening different teams of people/organisation hosted their own reception for conference visitors and members. This was the ideal opportunity to have one on one conversations with those organisations/individuals whom sometimes may not be available for a chat.
